Meaning “old farm” in Swedish, the Gammelgården Museum is the only open air museum devoted to preserving, presenting and promoting Swedish immigrant heritage in the United States. The Gammelgarden Museum is a lovely gem in Scandia. The museum features stories and artifacts from Swedish heritage and other immigrants that settled in the area. There are tours of the buildings and grounds during the summer months including the original wooden town church. The Gammelgården (old small farm) Museum, is owned by Elim Lutheran Church and since 1972 has preserved, presented, and promoted Swedish immigrant heritage and history.

Hay Lake School Museum is located just two miles South of Scandia at (address link) (County Road 3), near the Swedish Settler's Monument. With the Hay Lake School, there is the two-story Johannes Erickson log house with furnishings from this era.
