Pannellum was started as I could not find a good plug-in free panorama viewer. The closest I could find was a three.js demo that displayed an equirectangular panorama. While it worked for the one image, everything was hard-coded, it lacked user friendly controls, and was missing basic features. For final deployment, it is recommended that one use a minified copy of Pannellum instead of using the source files in src directly. The easiest method is to download the most recent release and use the pre-built copy of either pannellum.htm or pannellum.js & pannellum.css. pannellum v2.5.6.

Nice discovery on the multiresolution python script. I had assumed that Pannellum transferred scaled the resolution automatically, but of course there’s no server process so it logically can’t do that.
The problem lies with CORS. This article from Mozilla, enumerates and explains CORS implementation in depth.
